Reduction Of Animal Bi-Products In Cell Cultures
Industry Presentation• Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) is widely used in cell culture but is associated with sustainability, cost, and experimental variability challenges.
• We evaluated two chemically defined serum alternatives.
• Later we assessed cell growth across 70+ adherent and suspension cell lines in reduced serum.
• Growth was comparable in all lines using 5% versus 10% FBS. Consistency was maintained across multiple FBS batches.
• These findings support reducing serum concentrations, therefore we are transitioning away from 10% serum.
