Programme Summary

The Computational Pathology, AI & Precision Diagnostics programme takes the precision medicine decision chain through to deployment: foundation models for biomarker discovery, AI in pathology workflows, computational biomarker analysis, AI-enabled stratification, and the regulatory journey for AI/ML-based CDx. The new personalized healthcare track then frames this around the patient themselves.

At the heart of the programme is the Day 2 track keynote from AstraZeneca on scaling computational pathology for the next generation of cancer therapies, supported by three dedicated tracks across the two days.

The wider event sits around it: the cross-programme regulatory panel on AI-derived biomarkers and CDx, the integrated diagnostics panel and direct connection points to the biomarker and multi-omics work throughout.

Day 2 Track Keynote

MARK GUSTAVSON, AstraZeneca

Mark Gustavson leads computational pathology work inside AstraZeneca's oncology R&D, focused on scaling AI-driven pathology platforms across the company's late-stage cancer therapy programmes. His session covers how computational pathology moves from proof-of-concept to a routine part of biomarker-driven drug development, and what scaling means in practice for AI/ML model validation, deployment and regulatory positioning.

Computational Pathology Hackathon

The Computational Pathology Diagnostic Solution Hackathon will bring together clinicians, pathologists, AI experts, pharma biomarker teams, diagnostics partners, and regulatory stakeholders to develop practical computational pathology diagnostic solutions for real-world biomarker and clinical decision-making challenges. Focusing on 5 key questions, teams will have the chance to collaborate and discuss these challenges before providing a 10 minute presentation, with winners announced by our judges on the day.

2026 Highlights

The track keynote from Mark Gustavson of AstraZeneca anchors the programme, on scaling computational pathology for the next generation of cancer therapies.

Lauri Diehl (Gilead) covers foundation models for biomarker discovery whilst Wei-Ju Tseng (GSK) covers advancing precision medicine with AI-integrated histopathology imaging.

Plus sessions on computational biomarker analysis, AI/ML model validation pathways, and AI in pathology workflows. The Day 1 cross-programme regulatory panel covers what Merck, AstraZeneca's senior regulatory voices expect from AI-derived biomarkers and computational pathology CDx in 2026.

The new Precision Biomarkers & Personalized Healthcare track frames how advancements in pathology are benefiting the patient with Razik Yousfi (Tempus), Evita Sadimin (City of Hope) and Ahmed Fadiel (Chicago) looking at reliable AI, translating  AI and bridging workflows for Precision Medicine.
