3D Cell Culture | Q&As & Interviews
In Conversation With...Stefan Przyborski, Professor, Durham University
09 January 2023
In this video Q&A we discuss Stefan's recent work with bioengineered human tissues and the challenges to adopting 3D cell culture technologies in research.
Speaker Biographies
Stefan has over 30 years' experience in cell biology with specific interests in cell culture technology and bioengineering the micro-physiology of human tissues for in vitro applications. He has developed a multi-disciplinary approach to the bioengineering of tissue equivalents through creating bespoke devices and new cell culture platforms. Stefan holds an academic position as Professor in Cell Technology at Durham University. He is also a co-founder and the Chief Scientific Officer of Reprocell Europe, Glasgow, a biotechnology company that acquired cell technology in a spin-out venture he developed at Durham University UK. Stefan collaborates closely with industrial partners (Procter &Gamble, AstraZeneca) developing new innovative approaches to manage the growth and function of cultured cells in ways that more accurately reflect native tissues and improve predictive accuracy. These human micro-physiological tissue models have multiple applications and will be particularly relevant to modelling human disease, and advance basic research, safety screening and drug discovery.Subscribe to our newsletter
