Speaker Biographies
John Parrington is Associate Professor of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology at the University of Oxford, and Fellow of Worcester College. His research interests lie in the molecular mechanisms of reproduction and early embryogenesis, the role of calcium signals in mediating key physiological events, and genomic and proteomic approaches to understanding cell signalling. Parrington has experience of working with the media and has written popular science articles for outlets such as the Guardian and New Scientist and comment pieces about education for the Guardian. In 2012 he was the British Science Association Media Fellow at the Times where he wrote 22 news, feature and comment pieces, 12 of which appeared in print.
